Managing Technical Debt - Webinar
January 11, 2012
Chances are each of us at one time or another has inherited the responsibility of supporting a code base that was developed in less than ideal conditions. Perhaps this code base was written hastily, for short-term use only, without quality standards, by inexperienced programmers, or even this way for valid business reasons. Regardless of the reason, the result is often a software code base riddled in ” technical debt”.
Technical debt is the consequence of choosing a software design or construction approach that is expedient but increases complexity and future costs. It can impede the team’s ability to add new features, quickly fix bugs, and evolve the software product. From a business perspective, technical debt can keep a company from remaining competitive in today’s dynamic marketplace.
This webinar explores 3 main topics:
- Types of technical debt
- How to manage existing technical debt using Agile, and
- How to use Agile to develop new software while avoiding technical debt.
