Modernizing and re-architecting existing auction application
“Synerzip UX designers very closely represent their counterparts in the US in terms of their practice, how they tackle problems, and how they evangelize the value of UX.”
Steve BerryVP Product Management, Proxibid
The Client
Founded in 2001, Proxibid is the world’s most trusted & secure online platform to connect buyers and sellers of highly valued items in the industry. Proxibid brings together auctioneers, consignors, and buyers from multiple industries.
Since 2001, Proxibid has worked with more than 4,000 sellers and buyers from 190 countries to provide a safe way to transact across 15 categories, including heavy construction equipment, industrial machinery, collector cars, real estate, antiques, and collectibles, firearms, coins, and more.
For sellers, Proxibid offers a 24×7 sales channel, which means they are always open for business. Buyers know they can count on Proxibid for unique and hard-to-find items they won’t find anywhere else online.
The Challenge
Proxibid needed to re-architect their existing framework and develop new features for their web application. They initially partnered with Synerzip in the year 2017 to get help in building and scaling their auction platform.
“There is a strong practice in UX, which is universal, a lot of human-computer interaction, usability axioms, and you guys buy those exceptionally well, so very little difference culturally between two teams.”
The Solution
In 2018 when Proxibid needed to enhance the user experience of its products. They partnered with Synerzip’s UX team who Steve Berry, VP Product Management, found to be very useful and highly valuable.
The Synerzip team partnered with Proxibid and worked on firming up the UX strategy. The team also helped create UX and design workflows. Synerzip works on the Proxibid website and helps build UX for their web application, specifically for their Seller Platform, and to develop a better user experience for the bidding scenarios.
The team uses tools like Sketch, Figma, InVision, Abstract to design and finalize the artwork.
The Outcome
The Synerzip team was quick to understand Proxbid’s business domain and platform functionality while being offshore.
The Synerzip team was co-located with the client and was part of the Proxibid team for some time. This co-location helped bond the two teams. At the client site, the Synerzip team focused on understanding the domain better, visiting auction sites, and talking to end-users to gain maximum understanding of the auction world! They led the UX practice at the organization level for Proxibid.
Synerzip team conducted UX workshops & activities to make the Proxibid team more design sensitive, working with stakeholders from each department across the organization.
