The Client
ExamSoft provides cloud-based educational assessment technology that allows administrators to create, administer, grade, and analyze tests and exams.
Spanning multiple industries, Headquartered in Dallas, TX, ExamSoft has helped deliver more than 55 million exams to 1,600 clients. ExamSoft’s cloud-based software is in use by private schools, undergraduate programs, medical and nursing schools, therapy, and allied health programs.
The Challenge
To be competitive and meet the need of the hour, ExamSoft needed to bring its products to the market quickly. With a fixed budget and the mandate of getting to the market as quickly as possible, ExamSoft needed to augment its team of developers. A growing majority of ExamSoft students were replacing their laptops with iPads. ExamSoft’s legacy solutions were available only for desktops and laptops and built using .NET. They needed to modernize their content delivery system to enable this shift.

The Solution
Initially, ExamSoft partnered with Synerzip for testing and quality assurance (QA). The team demonstrated strong thought leadership by introducing and implementing several best practices.
To meet Examsoft’s goals of being mobile-first, Synerzip’s iOS team helped build SofTest–M – a native client app for the iPad version using Objective-C and Cocoa Touch framework. The entire development cycle involved preparing the basic Architecture, Design, Workflow, Cocoa coding, Unit tests, Continuous Integration (CI) builds, and automated code documentation.
Additionally, Synerzip team ensures the apps are continuously monitored for their performance and to detect any kind of security breach. The app is tested in such a way that it would not lose any data in case of a power outage, forced shut down or other possible scenarios executed by the student and it would revoke back to the last state. If the application detected a malicious activity or any student tried to breach the security, then the exam would pause and an alert message would be displayed.
